Pearl #41: Gluten-free at Mia Sorella (St. Louis)

June 8, 2014 by Kate Leave a Comment

When I got the Chicago job offer back in February, my family offered to venture beyond their usual haunts and head out to Town & Country to try out the newish Mia Sorella for a celebration. This sister restaurant of Trattoria Marcella has GREAT gluten-free options, and I had been eagerly waiting to cross this place off my restaurant bucket list. They offer gluten-free penne for an extra $2.00, and many of their pasta sauces can be prepared gluten-free.

We started out with the Shaved Brussels Sprouts salad, which was a special for the evening and confirmed to be GF. I love any and all types of Brussels sprouts, but this was nicely dressed with a light vinaigrette and had a great balance of gorgonzola and prosciutto. Mmm mmm good.Mia Sorella St. Louis - Gluten-free Brussels Sprouts Salad | Gluten-free Pearls

The pasta I ordered was phenom – roasted chicken, prosciutto and spinach in a smoked mozzarella demi cream sauce. Totally low-cal, right?Mia Sorella St. Louis - Gluten-free Pasta | Gluten-free Pearls

This was not for the faint of stomach, as this was a pretty rich sauce. But the flavors were amazing. I’d highly recommend this dish.

They also offer gluten-free wood-fired pizza. I did not inquire about the cross-contamination practices in the preparation, so be sure to check with your server depending on your level of sensitivity.

Be prepared to wait, as they do not accept reservations. But all in all, it was a great gluten-free dining experience!

Until next time,
Kate
